Yellow Bauhaus Diagonals Poster

Four yellow bands spring from a single point

At the bottom of this composition, the bands seem to emerge from one point before spreading upwards. Their clear yellow cuts through an almost black background; the dark spaces between them intensify the sense of opening out. A narrow vermilion vertical interrupts this movement near the right edge, while a broad pale area occupies the lower corner. This yellow and black Bauhaus-style geometric poster draws all its energy from a few sharply defined shapes, with no figure or landscape.

Your eye naturally follows the bands upwards. The longest even extends beyond the edge of the image, as though the composition continued past the paper. The other diagonals are neither parallel nor arranged as mirror images: this slight variation keeps them from becoming a simple repeating pattern. The fan is a visual comparison here, not a depicted object.

A bright accent to structure an understated wall

In a study, the poster can sit alongside simply shaped furniture and introduce a burst of colour without adding more objects. In a living room, it suits the space above a console or an armchair, especially against a pale wall where the black retains its depth. A subtle echo of yellow or red elsewhere in the room is enough; there is no need to match the whole decor.

This graphic composition also catches the eye from a distance. As you approach, you notice the balance between the four bands, the red bar and the white area below. The vertical format emphasises their momentum and gives a strong presence even to a composition reduced to its essential lines. Choose it for this tension between simplicity and movement, in a contemporary interior or a warmer room.
