Which Hilma af Klint composition should you choose?

These works do not share a single geometry. Curves fill some images, while others arrange shapes around a central axis. Compare their effect on your wall.

Hilma af Klint The Ten Largest No. 1 Childhood blue canvas print

Childhood, No. 1: curves on blue

Pale floral shapes, circles and yellow lines stand out against blue. This detailed vertical version works with plain textiles that pick up one colour rather than the whole palette.

Hilma af Klint The Ten Largest No. 7 Adulthood canvas print

Adulthood, No. 7: a luminous palette

Large yellow and pink forms fill the image. Its rhythm is more abundant than an abstraction built from straight lines. An open wall lets you see the broad colours from afar and smaller signs up close.

Hilma af Klint Altarpiece No. 1 triangle and circle canvas print

Altarpiece No. 1: a vertical structure

A multicoloured triangle meets a luminous circle against a dark ground. The central axis gives the composition a clear structure while retaining several colours.

Series that help identify the works

The Ten Largest, painted in 1907, evoke stages of life from childhood to old age. The Altarpieces of 1915 belong to another group within The Paintings for the Temple. These series help distinguish the works. You do not need to assign one fixed meaning to every shape to choose a reproduction.

Organic forms and furniture

Curves and floral motifs in Childhood or Adulthood can offset very straight furniture. Altarpiece No. 1 offers a stronger central axis. Compare blue ground, pink tones and dark contrast; one secondary colour can connect a busy print to the room.

The product size is not the original size

The Ten Largest names a series of large original works, not the dimensions of the product sold here. These are canvas prints in the sizes listed on their pages. Cropping or proportions may be adapted. Any golden effects visible in the image are printed, not applied metallic leaf.

Choosing a size for a Hilma af Klint reproduction

The three examples shown are vertical. Compare their height with the available wall, especially beside a door or bookcase. For a dense composition, allow room to view details. Use the product dimensions rather than the series title or a room photograph.

Example: The Ten Largest No. 1 – Childhood – Hilma af Klint Art Print.
Available sizes (width × height): 31 × 41 cm · 41 × 51 cm · 46 × 61 cm · 61 × 91 cm · 81 × 122 cm.

Above a sofa or bed

Compare the width of the canvas with that of the furniture. Leave space around the picture and check how it looks from your usual viewing distance.

On a narrow section of wall

A vertical format emphasises the height of an entrance or fits beside a bookcase. Mark out its outline with masking tape before choosing.

The canvas print you receive

The image is reproduced as a print on canvas. Any brushstroke or texture effect visible in the image is part of the printed design.

The textured canvas has a matte finish and is stretched over a wooden stretcher frame. The edges are printed and hanging hardware is included. The stretcher supports the canvas; it is different from an outer decorative frame.

Your questions about this collection

The Ten Largest or an Altarpiece: what is the difference?

The examples from The Ten Largest spread curves, signs and colour across the surface. Altarpiece No. 1 centres a triangle and circle on a vertical axis. Compare density and symmetry with your room.

Is Hilma af Klint the same artist as Gustav Klimt?

No. Hilma af Klint and Gustav Klimt are different artists. This collection contains works attributed to Hilma af Klint; check the title and image for a particular piece.

Must I buy a complete series?

No. Choose one print or combine several available formats. For a pair, compare palette and pattern density and leave a regular gap. Each print is an individual product unless its page says otherwise.
