Wishing Tree Poster – Ribbons in the Wind

The fabric seems to continue the sweep of the branches in this wishing tree and ribbons poster. Tied among the leaves, long colourful ribbons stretch to the right above water lit by a low sun. Turquoise, coral, ochre and burgundy cross the pale sky. On the left, a twisting trunk anchors the whole scene to the ground among flowers and exposed roots.

Light fabric on a gnarled tree

The drawing’s charm comes from the meeting of two depicted materials. The bark looks dense, furrowed and irregular; the ribbons undulate in broad, supple curves. Their colours cross without merging, sometimes revealing the landscape through the gaps. The eye moves from a nearby knot to an end floating in the sky.

The flower-covered slope picks up these colours in smaller touches. It descends towards a stretch of water narrowed in the distance by hills. The sun and its reflection add a second, calmer line of light beneath the movement of the fabric. The whole evokes the wishes each person attaches to an image, without prescribing a written message or a particular meaning.

Room for daydreaming among personal belongings

In a bedroom, this wishing tree and ribbons poster can accompany a chest of drawers holding a few chosen keepsakes. The muted pink of a vase or the blue of a small lamp is enough to echo the ribbons. A pale wall lets the curves stand out; a more enveloping shade would bring out the landscape’s light.

This motif appeals to those drawn to fairytale trees and imagined horizons. It does not demand an entirely bohemian setting: surrounded by simple lines, it keeps its richness without crowding the room. Its interest lies in that suspended gesture, between rooted stillness and fabric taking flight.
