Three compositions for a modern interior

A horizontal canvas follows the width of a piece of furniture, a vertical one draws the eye upwards, and a contrasting palette creates a focal point. These three examples show different ways to arrange your wall.

Curves above the sofa

Rounded forms combine teal, beige and touches of orange. This horizontal composition follows the lines of a sofa and lets you pick up a colour already present in your textiles.

The contrast of a monochrome vertical

Dark shapes overlap against a pale background in a vertical format. Beside a desk or on a narrow section of wall, this design adds structure without introducing bright colour.

A band of colour as an accent

Closely spaced vertical lines form a vivid arrangement, from red to blue. This canvas stands out for its rhythm: keep space around it so that the colours remain the focus.

Start with the lines of the room

First look at the furniture and the space around it. A long sofa, a tall bookcase and a small console call for different proportions. A horizontal composition can follow the furniture; a vertical one can provide a counterpoint. The design matters too: densely packed lines attract more attention than a few widely spaced shapes.

Balance colour and contrast

Blacks and deep blues stand out clearly against a light wall. Beiges and soft greens create a gentler transition to the furniture. When choosing a colourful canvas, identify a shade you would like to pick up in the room without trying to match every detail. If several objects already stand out, a limited palette may be enough to bring balance.

Abstraction and recognisable subjects

The selection combines non-figurative compositions with images in which a face, animal or building remains recognisable. Look at the image rather than relying solely on the word abstract in the title. Here, modern describes a decorative choice; it does not certify a creation date or place every design within a particular art movement.

Compare width, height and viewing distance

Dimensions are given as width × height. Sizes vary by product: an older canvas design and a more recent creation may have different proportions. Use the dimensions on your chosen product page rather than assuming that all canvases share the same aspect ratio.

Mark out the outline on the wall with masking tape and look at it from your sofa or chair. Check the space left for wall lights and shelves. Room images illustrate a mood; they do not replace these measurements.

Example: Modern Living Room Wall Art – Mineral Curves.
Available sizes (width × height): 46 × 31 cm · 61 × 41 cm · 76 × 51 cm · 91 × 61 cm · 122 × 81 cm.

Above a sofa or bed

Compare the width of the canvas with that of the furniture. Leave space around the picture and check how it looks from your usual viewing distance.

On a narrow section of wall

A vertical format emphasises the height of an entrance or fits beside a bookcase. Mark out its outline with masking tape before choosing.

The canvas print you receive

The image is reproduced as a print on canvas. Any brushstroke or texture effect visible in the image is part of the printed design.

The textured canvas has a matte finish and is stretched over a wooden stretcher frame. The edges are printed and hanging hardware is included. The stretcher supports the canvas; it is different from an outer decorative frame.

Your questions about this collection

How do I choose a modern abstract canvas for a living room?

Start with the free space above or beside your furniture, then choose a composition that remains clear from your usual seat. Horizontal curves complement a sofa; a contrasting vertical composition can suit a narrow wall.

Are these canvases hand-painted?

The designs are printed on canvas. Brushstrokes, textures and material effects visible in the image are part of the reproduced design; paint is not applied by hand to each print.

How does this differ from the Contemporary Abstract collection?

The two selections are closely related and may share some products. Compare the images and colours rather than expecting a strict historical distinction: this page mainly guides you through composition and proportion.
