Wood Cross-section Poster – Memory of the Earth

A round slice of wood occupies the centre, outlined by a dark bark border. This poster of a wood cross-section and its rings combines the disc’s oranges with blue and earth-coloured areas. Around it, sage, cream and rust-coloured sprigs extend the botanical theme. Wood is no longer just a detail: it becomes the main shape of the composition.

Fine rings draw the eye towards the centre

The lines gather around a small point, then expand towards the irregular edge. Several black cracks cross the disc, giving the eye different directions to follow. Their contrast adds character to the warm roundness of the wood. Darker areas at the core and lighter ones near the bark create a further progression of colour.

The outer leaves stay light so they do not compete with the circle. Textured backgrounds suggest painted passages, with blue tempering the orange. The whole is an illustrated interpretation, not a real slice of trunk to hang on the wall. The rings are there to be enjoyed as a drawing, not to date a particular tree or provide botanical information.

A warm orange circle among linen and wood

With natural linen, wooden furniture and matte ceramics, the poster can complement decor that values materials without adding a bulky object. A small sage accent echoes the sprigs. On a pale wall, the disc stands out clearly, while the blue areas prevent the image from merging entirely with the furniture’s tones.

This poster offers a natural motif that is both centred and detailed. First you notice its round shape, then the fine lines and small accompanying leaves. It suits a space where the colours of wood are welcome, while keeping a composition more graphic than a forest landscape.
