Still Life with Oranges and Lemons with Blue Gloves Canvas Print – Vincent van Gogh

Golden citrus fruit against cobalt blue

Amid luminous fruit and blue gloves, Van Gogh’s Still Life with Oranges and Lemons with Blue Gloves canvas print presents an unforgettable scene. Nine yellow and orange citrus fruits rest in a woven basket before deep-green cypress branches. In the foreground, a pair of cobalt-blue gloves forms a bold, unexpected diagonal. Painted in Arles in 1889, the work brings warmth, freshness and character together.

The oval basket gathers the fruit at the centre, each piece picked out with bluish outlines. Branches spread towards either side, while the gloves occupy the lower-right corner with soft folds and brown bands. A pale turquoise background lightens the composition and makes the golden yellow of the lemons stand out without giving the colours an artificial brightness.

A tactile, daring still life by Van Gogh

The painting’s richness also comes from its visible textures. The dimpled citrus peel, basket weave, branch needles and folds of the gloves are each conveyed through a different touch. Van Gogh does not pursue a smooth imitation: he gives every material its own rhythm. The orange-and-blue contrast structures the image, while greens, ochres and sky blue maintain an equilibrium more nuanced than a simple opposition of colours.

A canvas reproduction for the kitchen or dining room

Still Life with Oranges and Lemons with Blue Gloves is a natural companion for a bright kitchen, a welcoming dining room or a living room that embraces colour. Its horizontal format sits comfortably above a sideboard, table or clear worktop. The citrus fruit works with wood, cream ceramics and honey tones; the blue gloves echo midnight-blue furniture or turquoise accents. Less familiar than the artist’s famous landscapes, this canvas reproduction is a personal, warm and lively choice that catches the eye without losing the simplicity of an everyday scene.
