Shifting Parallelograms Geometric Poster

One diagonal, three rhythms

The bands cross the poster diagonally, but never in the same way from one level to the next. At the top, forest green, peach and burgundy follow each other in broad, calm strips. In the centre, their order seems to slide; lower down, the same shades begin again in another arrangement. Horizontal divisions give the eye three stages in which to read a pattern built from a simple shape.

This shifted parallelogram poster rests on that slight misalignment. The large areas of colour remain crisp, without added texture or a figurative object. Warm white keeps the dark colours from closing off the image, while peach visually connects green and burgundy. Repetition is evident, but the changing order prevents monotony. At the edge of each level, a band is cut off by the composition, making the pattern seem capable of continuing beyond the paper.

Quiet geometry on the scale of a wall

In a living room, the three horizontal sections echo the line of a sofa or sideboard; diagonals add a measured tension. A study with wooden furniture or light surfaces can welcome this palette without adopting an entirely colourful scheme. The poster also works alongside other abstract images if their outlines are more understated.

It suits those looking for a carefully constructed image rather than perfect symmetry. You can see it as a colour study or simply enjoy the sliding effect between the three levels. Its portrait format gives the broad bands enough height for their shifts to remain visible from a distance.
