Kumiko-Inspired Wooden Lattice Poster

Honey-coloured strips cross to reveal stars at several scales. Between them, petrol-blue and rust triangles emerge from the shadows. The pattern appears in an angled close-up, its lines sharp on the left and softer further back. This kumiko-inspired poster is as interested in the light passing between the shapes as in the shapes themselves.

Wooden stars and triangles receding into depth

Your eye first catches a pale star in the foreground, then follows its points towards other interlocking forms. Each junction changes the pattern without breaking its logic. The viewpoint keeps it from looking like a flat grid: the strips cast shadows, openings reveal colours further behind, and the details gradually soften. The portrait format emphasises this movement into the pattern.

The image evokes the decorative art of kumiko, but remains an illustration. It proves neither the construction technique of a real panel nor the material of an object supplied with the poster. Its decorative interest lies in the contrast between geometric precision and the visual warmth of pale wood.

Warm geometry in the room

Placed near a bookcase, the poster can echo wooden surfaces without repeating a single flat colour. In a living room with cream or dark-blue walls, the stars provide structured detail that becomes clearer as you move closer. Rust accents warm the petrol-blue areas, while openings in the lattice leave room for the image to breathe.

If you like regular patterns but find some too cold, this composition offers a considered balance. The lines hold your attention, shadows add depth, and light seems to move through the design.
