Hiroshige – New Year's Eve Fox Fires at Oji Art Print

Hiroshige and the Legend of the Japanese Kitsune

Our Hiroshige canvas print "New Year's Eve Foxes at Ōji" captures one of Japan's most mysterious traditions: the nocturnal gathering of fox spirits for the New Year's Eve ceremony. This Japanese woodblock print reveals the popular belief that kitsune assemble beneath the tree at Ōji to light will-o'-the-wisps before proceeding to the Inari shrine. The art of Hiroshige transcends simple representation here to immerse us in the fascinating world of Japanese folklore, transforming this wall decoration into a window onto the spiritual mysteries of Edo-period Japan.

Ukiyo-e Woodblock Print: Nocturnal Atmosphere and the Supernatural

This work by Hiroshige masterfully illustrates the art of ukiyo-e in its capacity to capture the invisible. The palette of emerald greens and nocturnal blues creates an enchanting atmosphere, while the gently falling snow adds a poetic dimension to this supernatural scene. The golden flames of the will-o'-the-wisps, borne by the mystical foxes, punctuate the composition with luminous touches that guide the gaze toward this ancestral dance. This art reproduction brings a magical dimension to your interior decoration, evoking the mysteries of the Japanese night.

Traditional Japanese Art: Folklore and Shinto Spirituality

This Japanese canvas print goes beyond aesthetic beauty to become an authentic testimony to Shinto beliefs. The foxes, messengers of the goddess Inari, are represented in their spiritual form, bearers of light in the winter darkness. This Hiroshige woodblock print reveals the richness of Japanese cultural heritage, where nature and the supernatural coexist harmoniously. Traditional Japanese art finds here one of its most touching expressions, inviting contemplation of the mysteries that surround us in your everyday living space.

Hiroshige: Master of Mystical and Seasonal Moods

More than a simple wall decoration, this Japanese woodblock print reveals the genius of Hiroshige in capturing seasonal and spiritual phenomena. The New Year's Eve snow, the bare tree and the ghostly procession of kitsune create a visual symphony of rare poetry. The high-definition print allows every subtlety of this nocturnal composition to be appreciated — from the snow effects to the mysterious glow of the will-o'-the-wisps — creating in your interior a unique atmosphere that celebrates the magic of Japanese traditions and the incomparable art of Hiroshige.
