Japandi Vase Poster – Black, Grey and Leaf Shadows

Two vases share a wall with a leafy shadow

A tall, almost-black vase holds slender stems tipped with small seed heads. Beside it, a low, rounded grey vase rests on a midnight-blue shelf. A large leafy shadow spreads across the beige wall to the right. This Japandi vase poster brings together two firmly placed objects and a softer suggestion of foliage, without crowding either part of the scene.

The tall vase answers the height of the shadow; the round one gives the arrangement a broader base. Fine stems and tiny seed heads punctuate the otherwise quiet surfaces. Beneath them, the indigo band grounds the composition without making it feel flat. The different proportions are easy to take in at a glance, yet there is enough variation to keep the eye moving.

A still life with room for silence

Above low furniture in a living room, the motif can sit alongside a lamp or a nearby plant without competing with them. In a study, its soft grey and beige lighten the wall while the dark blue adds depth. Pale wood offers a natural companion to these colours, especially where the surrounding furniture already has simple, uncluttered lines.

There is no elaborate bouquet or table laid for a meal. The interest lies in volume, light and the space between objects. Projected leaves play almost as large a part as the vases themselves. It is a way to bring a hint of vegetation into a restrained interior, leaving the wall as calm as the arrangement it depicts.
