Optical Illusion of a Woman — Black and White Portrait

Her eyes remain still, yet everything moves around them. This black and white women's optical illusion canvas print turns lines, folds and cells into silent movement. Up close, each curve can be followed; from a distance, the portrait seems to gain depth and hold the gaze.

Lines shift the contours of the face

The front-facing face occupies the centre of the vertical canvas. Undulating bands cross the cheeks and neck, while a spiral winds near the temple. Around it, geometric motifs, veins and fan-shaped folds extend the figure to the edges. Black, white and grey are enough to create a dense trompe-l'œil without drawing attention away through colour.

This contrast gives the portrait a presence that is both precise and enigmatic. Above a black console in an office, the image can echo the lines of a white lamp. Leave some viewing distance in front of the wall to take in the waves as a whole, then follow them closely around the face.

The gaze remains fixed amid the movement

The cells radiate around the head and continually lead back to the eyes. This tension between stillness and vibration gives the black and white women's portrait its distinctive character. The geometry of the printed motif invites the viewer to follow the visual depth, the rhythm of the waves and the intensity of the face-to-face encounter.

On this black and white women's optical illusion canvas print, the shadows and folds of the printed motif create the sense of depth. The textured canvas has a matte finish and comes in four portrait sizes: 31 × 41, 41 × 51, 46 × 61 and 61 × 91 cm. Measure the height available above your console to choose the scale of the portrait.
