Scandinavian folk birds and rowan berries poster

Two birds, two places among the branches

A black and ivory bird occupies the upper part of the image. Lower down, a second bird with an orange breast faces the other way. Flexible twigs connect their perches and carry small grey-green leaves and clusters of red-orange berries. The ivory background remains clearly visible between the branches, giving each element its own place.

This Scandinavian birds and red berries poster reads as a scene of neighbours rather than a scientific illustration. Their plumage is distinct, but their species cannot be named with certainty. The berries punctuate the composition at several heights. Their rusty red enlivens the muted greens and blacks without making the whole motif loud.

A botanical encounter for a wall with life

The illustration suits a living room where you want a lively detail near an understated sofa. In a study, the course of the branches guides the eye from one corner of the poster to another, gently breaking the rigour of straight lines. The scene retains a degree of quiet: the birds are neither confined to a storyline nor accompanied by words.

Your gaze moves between the two birds. The dark and pale one stands out near the upper leaves; the other warms the lower branch with its orange breast. Berry clusters surround them without hiding them. This small neighbourhood of wings and fruit makes the scene feel alive, but never noisy. Even on an otherwise bare wall, the ivory background preserves the lightness their silhouettes need.
