The black silhouettes connect the different parts of the composition. An outstretched wing echoes the wader’s long beak, while the small bird’s red tail picks up the coral at the centre. These echoes maintain the balance despite the changes in scale and opposing gestures.

The blocks of colour do not seek to represent a real landscape. Cobalt blue becomes a field of colour, the yellow disc suggests a round light, and the cream curves create softer passages. Reducing the birds to their essential lines gives the ensemble a modern, playful spirit.
